Here is some ideas of what to do when you stay with us.

Our central locations provide easy access to many attractions, restaurants and shopping areas to ensure there is plenty to do whilst staying at The Spires.

The following are some of the 2025 event highlights taking place in each location. These include one-off events, carnivals, food festivals and local cultural events. 

Aberdeen

The major event in Aberdeen in 2025 is The Tall Ships Races, taking place from 19th to 22nd July. This will be Scotland’s largest event of the year and will see over 50 tall ships from around the world and 400,000 visitors, with a grand opening event on 19th July. Visit the Port of Aberdeen, Upper Dock and Regent Quay, plus Union Street to enjoy the many events taking place.

Other events in Aberdeen include the Aberdeen Highland Games (15th June) at Hazlehead Park and the Aberdeen Fringe Festival (24th-26th October).

Birmingham

Events taking place in Birmingham during 2025 include the Serendipity Arts Festival (23rd May - 1st June), the Midland Air Festival (30th May - 1st June) and the Birmingham Jazz and Blues Festival (18th - 27th July).

The NEC Birmingham will be hosting the Great British Beer Festival (5th - 9th August) that will feature hundreds of ales and live music.

Cardiff

Cardiff will be having a free festival, Tafwyl Festival in Bute Park (14th and 15th June) that will showcase Welsh language music and culture with multiple stages. The Cardiff Food and Drink Festival (27th – 29th June) takes place at Roald Dahl Plass with a wide range of food stalls and live music. The Blackweir Live Festival (29th June – 9th July) features a series of concerts throughout the duration.

Edinburgh

Edinburgh will host many events throughout the year, including the Mardi Gras (1st March), Edinburgh Science Festival (5th – 20th April), Edinburgh Carnival (13th July) and Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo (1st - 23rd August). The famous annual Edinburgh International Festival (1st - 24th August) and Edinburgh Festival Fringe (1st – 25th August) are ones not to miss.

Glasgow

2025 sees Glasgow celebrate 850 years it was granted Burgh status in 1175. Throughout the year there are signature events and cultural festivals that will incorporate special themes related to the 850-year anniversary. Highlights include the Glasgow Film Festival (26th February – 9th March), Glasgow International Comedy Festival (12th – 30th March) and TRNSMT Festival (11th – 13th July).
